Habits & Attitudes to Learning Evaluation Rubric This rubric identifies many of the dispositions and approaches to learning that students need to develop if they are to be independent and successful learners. The rubric is used by teachers for assigning a habits & attitudes to learning grade (1-7) in each subject within the High School. Excellent, satisfactory and very poor are given as examples on the seven-point continuum but a student can be placed at any of the four intermediate levels, depending on their specific strengths or weaknesses.

Attendance/ Punctuality
Rarely on time for class Frequently asks to leave the room No notice or follow-up for absences
Usually arrives to class on time Notes or phone calls are usually received for absences
Always on time for class All absences are properly documented or requested in advance
Preparation
Rarely prepared with materials for class Forgets notebook or textbook at home or in locker Assignments & homeworks are often late
Usually prepared with materials for class Usually has notebook and textbook Assignments & homeworks are usually completed on time
Comes prepared with all necessary materials Always has notebooks and textbook All assignments & homeworks are completed on time
Work Habits
Does not prepare to work until instructed by the teacher Rarely listens to instructions & feedback from the teacher Requires monitoring by the teacher to stay focussed on assignments Often idle in class No attempt to catch up on missed work
